New plans at Elizabeth Quay (west); for a landmark tower & observation deck .
The Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority and the State Government of WA have set a Perth CBD record with the sale of lot 2 and 3 at Elizabeth Quay for $85 million.
The lots were purchased by Perth developer Adrian Fini’s Fini Group and Malaysian developer Victor Goh’s AAIG. Both developers are heavy swingers in the Perth property market with The Fini Group recently completing the State Building boutique hotel and office tower and AAIG’s Capital Square development on the Old Emu Brewery site recently reaching its final height.
The Joint venture partners ran an international design competition with the winning design by Kerry Hill Architects. The design features a 45 level, 180m slender tower with 300 apartments, topped off with dual level art gallery and observation deck. The second tower will feature 200 hotel rooms and 170 serviced apartments. The buildings have been split to minimise the shadowing and maximise the afternoon sunshine onto the quay.
Mr Fini said the consortium’s plans would be unique, saying “we will not be seeking to replicate what we’ve done before, or to deliver something similar to the neighbouring Ritz Carlton”.
“Our development must be complementary and fill other niches in the market,” he said.
MRA chief executive Kieran Kinsella said the collaboration brought significant development experience to Elizabeth Quay. “The joint venture was selected as the preferred proponent for its alignment with the overall vision for Elizabeth Quay and the company’s experience in delivering developments of a similar scale,” Mr Kinsella said.
The development is estimated to cost $300 million to construct and construction is aimed to be completed by late 2019.
